Ink attack on woman who accused Gehlot minister’s son of rape in Delhi, after threat to withdraw case

A 23-year-old woman, who accused Rajasthan cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi’s son of raping her, was attacked with ink in the national capital. An official gave this information on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast District) Isha Pandey said that on Saturday night, a PCR call was received that some miscreants threw something at the woman and fled.

After the attack, the woman was immediately taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.

The victim told the police that she was walking with her mother near Kalindi Kunj road at around 9.30 pm when two boys threw something at her and fled. He has also alleged that he has been “threatened to withdraw his case”.

DCP Pandey said, “Prima facie the blue liquid looks like ink.”

On the basis of his statement, the police registered sections 195A (threatening to give false evidence to any person), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 34 (many Acts done by persons) filed an FIR. of the Indian Penal Code at Shaheen Bagh Police Station.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice to the Delhi Police on the incident and sought a detailed action taken report on the incident.

Earlier, the victim had lodged a complaint at Sadar Bazar police station regarding sexual abuse by Rohit Joshi, son of Rajasthan cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi.

“She had alleged that Rohit Joshi had come in contact with her through Facebook in 2020. He took her to Sawai Madhopur on January 8, 2021, gave her soft drinks and had sex without her consent,” said DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi.

There have been allegations of sexual abuse in Jaipur and other places as well.

Delhi Police has registered zero FIR on May 8 under sections 376, 377, 328, 366, 312, 506 and 509 of IPC.

Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal said that she will issue a notice to Delhi Police regarding the ink attack.

Maliwal even asked Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot not to try to save his minister’s son but to arrest him.
