Infiltration attempt along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir foiled; 2 martyrs including army personnel

Srinagar: A terrorist was killed and an Army jawan was martyred during an encounter along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district in the early hours of Friday. According to army sources, exchange of fire broke out between infiltrators and security forces along the LoC in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara.

Around 3-4 heavily armed terrorists from a village in Pakistan tried to carry out the infiltration attempt. Accordingly, an ambush involving the Indian Army was set up to dominate the area between Garang Nar and Chinar Mohalla.

The ambush people continuously tracked down a group of 2-3 terrorists with night vision devices. When the terrorists tried to cross the Indian border, there was firing.

The terrorists took cover and a gunfight ensued in which one of them died on the spot and two other terrorists escaped. A search is on in the area to track them down. However, an army jawan was also martyred during the encounter.
