India’s women cricketers facing heat due to tight covid protocol

A BCCI official said the Indian women’s cricket team’s 14-day tough quarantine in “small” hotel rooms in Brisbane is only four days away, but the isolation is starting to take a toll on the players.

The official told PTI that the rooms in the government’s institutional quarantine facility are very small and the players are somehow undergoing light training.

“The rooms are too small. You barely manage to move around and do some training. There are no guards in place like the players you’ve seen in the UK, but it’s pretty tight.

“However, the food served is fine and the menu changes everyday. It will be a challenging two weeks,” the official said.

The players had an easier time in the UK as they were allowed to train within the first week of their quarantine after spending two weeks in isolation in Mumbai.

The team arrived in Brisbane on Monday following changes in tour schedules in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne due to COVID-19-related restrictions, which include three ODIs, one day-night Test and three T20Is.

All matches will now be played in Queensland and the start of the series is likely to be delayed by two days to 21 September.

The men’s cricket team, which toured Australia this year, was allowed to train for a limited period during quarantine. However, the women are imprisoned in their hotel rooms for 14 days.

Australia is one of the countries that has imposed some strict restrictions on international travelers to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Looking at the positivity from the current situation, the head coach Ramesh Powar He tweeted a picture of his room’s window, titled “As long as you have a window, life is exciting”.

Earlier this year, before the Australian Open, strict quarantine had an effect on tennis players as well.

two time champion Victoria Azarenka He spoke about shortness of breath after his first-round loss in Melbourne.

She was among over 70 players who had to undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival.
