Futurist Pupul Bisht will participate with civil society leaders from 30 countries around the world.
This time a promising daughter of India has been invited to the forum of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly to share her thoughts about the future of humanity. Futurist Pupul Bisht will present the vision of the future through stories in a conference organized under the Sustainable Development Goals on Monday.
Pupul will participate with civil society leaders from 30 countries around the world. These include Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, Melinda Gates of the Gates Foundation, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and UN Development Program Secretary General Achim Steiner.
Pupul Bisht, 29, is a well-known futurist. She follows a method of future analysis inspired by the Kawad story of Rajasthan. Pupul, who has been drawing a picture of the future with this unique approach, founded the Decolonizing Futures Initiative in 2018. This is the first non-Western method of future analysis through Kaavad Katha.
On the basis of this, Pupul was selected for the Next Generation Forsight Practitioners Award. Pupul told Bhaskar that the entire picture of the future is contained in the folk tales of India. On the basis of these decades distant future can be carved. Our past determines our future.
Through these folktales we can introduce the world to the world of the future. Pupul believes that stories are such a medium, which can break away from the circle and structure of the organization and become a medium of mass communication. Pupul holds a Bachelors in Graphic Design from NIFD and Masters in Strategic Foresight and Innovation from OCAD University, Canada.
Storytelling is part of our culture, I will honor it
Pupul says, “I will talk about the medium of understanding the future with Indian identity and thinking. We all live in a global environment dominated by American thinking. It is a nemesis of the past. We have to get rid of this slavery to envision a perfect future. English may not always be an easy medium of communication. Storytelling is an important part of our culture. I want to honor it in front of the world.
