India’s COVID vaccination coverage crosses 71 crore milestone

India has achieved the milestone with more than 700 million vaccinations so far.

The COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the 71 crore milestone in the country on Wednesday. Over 73 lakh (73,80,510) doses were given till 7 pm on Wednesday, taking the cumulative number to 71,52,54,153.

The daily vaccination numbers are expected to increase with the compilation of the final report for the day by late night.

The Ministry of Health tweeted regarding the achievement of milestones in the vaccination campaign against Kovid-19.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that it took 85 days for India to do 10 crore vaccinations, 45 days to cross the 20 crore mark and 29 days to reach 30 crore.

It took 24 days for the country to reach 400 million immunizations from 300 million doses and then another 20 days to cross 500 million immunizations on 6 August. It took 19 more days to cross the 60 crore mark and only 13 days to reach the 70 crore mark. 60 crore on September 8, the ministry said.

Immunization practice is regularly reviewed and monitored at the highest level as a tool to protect the most vulnerable population groups in the country from COVID-19.
