Indian Navy bans flying drones, private helicopters within 3 km of its Mumbai installations

Mumbai: To counter the drone conspiracy, the Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command (WNC) has prohibited the flight of any authorized aerial drone, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or private helicopter within an area of ​​three kilometers from the periphery of naval installations in Mumbai. Also, if any person or civil agency is caught flying aerial drones in these areas for any reason, then strict legal action will be taken against them. The Western Naval Command has given clear instructions that if any drone is found within a radius of three kilometers of the headquarters, then the Navy will destroy it.

The permission of the Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA) is required before flying a drone or a private ship. A copy of the permission letter has to be submitted to Headquarters, Western Naval Command at least one week before the scheduled flight operations.

The Navy said, “At least a week before the flight operations schedule, its approval will have to be obtained from the website of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and a copy of the sanction letter should be handed over to the Western Navy Command here.
