Indian Idol 12 Marathon will announce its winner after the conclusion of 12 Hours, which is currently live. As we get closer to the moment of truth, we see who has won this reality show in the past.
Season 1: Abhijeet Sawanti
Abhijit Sawant won the first season of Indian Idol in 2004 and is still one of the most famous names to come out of the reality show. His first solo album, Aapka Abhijit Sawant, was released in 2005. He became a playback singer and sang several songs in films, including the film Aashiq Banaya Aapne. Sawant made his acting debut in 2009 with the film Lottery. He has also sung several covers of classic Hindi songs, which are popular on YouTube. He recently released the remake of Hum Tumse Pyaar Kitna featuring actress Anita Hassanandani in the video.

Season 2: Sandeep Acharya
Sandeep Acharya, a resident of Bikaner, became the winner of Indian Idol Season 2 in 2006. He sang for many Bollywood and Rajasthani films. He was diagnosed with jaundice and passed away in 2013.
Season 3: Prashant Tamangi
Kolkata Police constable Prashant Tamang auditioned for Indian Idol as he was encouraged by his friends and seniors in the force. Tamang became a celebrity in West Bengal, Sikkim and especially in the Darjeeling hills. In this contest, people from Kolkata, Sikkim and Gorkha community voted overwhelmingly for Tamang. After winning Indian Idol 3, Tamang launched her debut album Thanks which included Nepali and Hindi songs. In 2009, Tamang started his acting career in Nepali films.
Season 4: Saurabhi Debbarma
Saurabhi became the first woman winner of Indian Idol. After winning Indian Idol Season 4, Saurabh, who hails from Tripura, participated and entered the Guinness Book of World Records for singing the song Ooltah. His feat was broadcast on 18 March 2009, where he performed in reverse for 4 minutes 30 seconds. She continues to perform live and record songs.
Season 5: Shriram Chandra
The Indian Idol 5 winner from Hyderabad started his playback career in the Telugu film industry. In 2013, she made her acting debut in Telugu cinema with the film Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara. He has sung in Hindi movies like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Khiladi 786 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Their covers and unplugged versions of songs are also popular online.
Season 6: Vipul Mehta
In 2012, Vipul Mehta won the sixth season. His first solo song was in Rowan, which was written and composed by Asad Chauhan and produced by Ali Mustafa. After his victory, he also released his debut album Hello Namaste Sat Sri Akal. He continues to perform live and release mashups online.
Indian Ideal Junior:
The Nest two seasons of Indian Idol were dedicated to children. Bengaluru’s Anjana Padmanabhan won season 1, while Ananya Nanda won season 2 of Indian Idol Junior.
Season 9: Lv Revanth
After winning Indian Idol Season 9, Revanth became a popular singer in South films. He has sung around 200 songs for Telugu and Kannada films, including the song ‘Manohari’ from the film Bahubali: The Beginning. He sang two songs for the hit soundtrack of the 2017 film Arjun Reddy.
Season 10: Salman Ali
Before winning Indian Idol 10, Salman also recorded a short segment in the promotional song Sab Badhi Hai from the film Sui Dhaaga. The winner of the 10th season of Indian Idol was also the first runner up of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs 2011. Apart from Indian Idol, Salman lent his voice for the theme song of the TV series Chandragupta Maurya. In 2019, she sang for films like Satellite Shankar and Dabangg 3. Salman Ali is a part of Zee TV’s reality show Indian Pro Music League as a team captain.
Season 11: Sunny Hindustani
The showshiner from Punjab participated in the auditions for Indian Idol and garnered love and appreciation across the country to emerge as the winner of Indian Idol Season 11. During the show, Sunny received some offers from other musicians for playback for them in their upcoming films. In 2019, he made his debut as a playback singer with the song ‘Rome Rome’ for the film The Body. Veteran singer Amit Kumar also signed her for a song.
