Indian brands dominate the smartwatch market in the country – Times of India

In terms of quarter-on-quarter numbers, India’s smartwatch shipments witnessed a growth of 18%.
As per the report, the growth was essentially driven by cheaper offerings, new entrants, changing customer preferences and improving demand from the lockdown period.
The report said that there were several new launches in the under Rs 5,000 segment, due to which its contribution to the overall market increased to 83% in Q2 2021 as compared to 67% in Q2 2020. As a result, the (average selling price) of ASP smartwatches has also decreased by 36 per cent in Q2 of 2021 as compared to the same period last year.
Top Performers of the Second Quarter of 2021
According to the report, Noise was the top performing player in the quarter. It grew by 229% to remain on top with 27.3% market share. Launched in 2019, the Colorfit Pro 2 was its best-selling model and other new launches such as the Colorfit Pro 3 and Noisefit Active also helped the brand maintain its lead.

According to the report, Fire Bolt turned out to be the third largest player in the Indian smartphone market. It is said to have increased QoQ by 243%. This was attributed to several affordable-segment launches, feature-packed products, rewards programs and exclusive tie-ups with online retailers.
The fourth and fifth positions were occupied by Amazfit and Realme which grew 58% YoY and 49% YoY respectively.

Counterpoint Research has claimed in its report that Samsung has increased the sales of its Galaxy Watch Active 2 by 118% year-on-year. For Apple, the report claims that it has grown by 34%, mainly due to higher sales of the Series 6 and SE.
