‘India Will Say We Don’t Have Players Like Rizwan, Babar’: Former Cricketer Praises PAK’s Dynamic Jodi

Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has praised the dynamic duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Both the batsmen have been in good form recently and have played a huge role in raising the stature of the team in international cricket.

Recently, the Men in Green effected a T20I series whitewash at home against West Indies. In the final face-off, Pakistan chased down a mammoth target of 208 runs to complete their highest run-chase in the shortest format of the game. Rizwan played a swashbuckling knock of 87 runs in just 45 balls while his opening partner and captain Babar contributed 79 runs in 53 balls.

They put on a 158-run partnership for the first wicket, which was also the fourth 150-plus opening stand in 2021. This is his second highest partnership in T20Is after his impressive 197-run partnership against South Africa earlier this year.

Rashid is happy with the performance of both the batsmen. While talking with PTV Sports, the former cricketer compared the two to their Indian counterparts.

“About a year ago, we used to say that Pakistan does not have players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul, especially in T20 cricket. But I think after some time Indians will also say that we don’t have such players. [Mohammad] Rizwan and Babri [Azam]Latif said on PTV Sports.

He further added, “Earlier, we had objections about his scoring rate as well, but he made up for it by accelerating his innings perfectly.”

Meanwhile, Rizwan became the first batsman to score 2000 T20I runs in a calendar year. Whereas for Babar this was his 20th 50-plus score in T20 cricket this calendar year, the most by any cricketer.
