India vs West Indies 2022: WI Recalls Roach, Bonner and King for ODI Series

West Indies on Wednesday recalled veteran pacer Kemar Roach as he named his squad for the One Day International series in India next month. The 33-year-old Roach has taken 365 international wickets, including 124 in ODIs, but hasn’t played an ODI since 2019.

The Caribbean outfit will take on India in three matches, all part of the 2023 World Cup Super League, in Ahmedabad on February 16, 18 and 20.

West Indies chief selector Desmond Haynes said, “Kemar Roach is one of our leading fast bowlers and we believe we need bowlers to pick up early wickets, and Kemar, with an economy rate of five, certainly Good enough to play with.”

Also remembered for batsman Nkrumah Bonner, whose last three ODI caps came last January, and opener Brandon King.

Bonner has become a regular in the Test team, but has made little appearances in white-ball international cricket.

“Over the years, Nkrumah Bonner’s cricket has grown rapidly and we believe he should be given the opportunity to play in the 50-over format,” Haynes said.

As India named their squad on Wednesday, skipper Rohit Sharma is fit enough to return from injury.
