India vs South Africa 2021: KL Rahul named India’s new Test vice-captain

KL Rahul The vice-captain will don the cap for the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa. Rohit Sharma would have been the vice-captain but a hamstring injury ruled him out of the series and hence Rahul will act as Virat Kohli’s deputy.

Sources privy to the developments confirmed to ANI that Rahul will indeed be the vice-captain of the Test against South Africa. “Yes, with Rohit’s disappearance, KL Rahul Will be the vice-captain,” said the source.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday confirmed that Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the three-match Test series against South Africa due to a hamstring problem. “Team India’s Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma suffered a left hamstring injury during his training session in Mumbai yesterday,” BCCI said in an official release.

“He has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa. Priyank Panchal will replace Rohit Sharma in the Test squad.”
