Rohit Sharma added another feat to his batting on Sunday as he became only the second cricketer after Martin Guptill to hit 150 sixes in T20 International cricket during the ongoing match between India and New Zealand in Kolkata.

Guptill joined Guptill with his 150th six in the final over of the Powerplay after Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first in the third T20I at the Eden Gardens.

Rohit achieved this feat by hitting Lockie Ferguson for a six over the square leg fence. The Hitman currently stands on 150 sixes in 119 matches, 11 behind Guptill’s tally of 161 in 112 matches.

Notably, Rohit Sharma is third in the list of batsmen with most sixes in international cricket with 454 from 404 matches behind West Indies legend Chris Gayle (553) and former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi (476).

11 arrests near Eden Gardens

Meanwhile, 11 people have been arrested near the Eden Gardens stadium ahead of the third T20 match on charges of illegally selling tickets. He said that 60 tickets of the match being sold at a higher price than the arrested people were confiscated.

A senior police officer said that security has been tightened in the stadium and surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incident. Over 2,000 personnel from various units of Kolkata Police including RAF and HRFS were deployed.

He said that the soldiers of the Anti-Rowdy Squad were also deployed near the stadium. He said that senior officers of the level of Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner have also been deployed in the stadium and surrounding areas.

“Officers in plain clothes are also at different places around the Eden Gardens. We are not taking any chances and want to ensure that the sporting event goes smoothly,” the official said.
