India topped the Junior Shooting World Championship with 43 medals. More sports news – Times of India

NEW DELHI: India won 43 medals, including 17 gold, to top the recently concluded pecking order. ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima.
The country’s shooters won all 12 available medals on the final competition day of the top junior tournament at the Las Palmas Shooting Range in the Peruvian capital Lima.

Then Rhythm Sangwan won her fourth gold of the championship with a score of 573 in the junior women’s 25m standard pistol, followed by compatriot Nivedita Velur Nair (565) and Namya Kapoor (563) trailing in silver and bronze positions.
In the 50m pistol for junior men, India’s Arjun Singh Cheema dominated the 16-strong field with 549 out of 600, with both teammates Shaurya Sarin and Ajinkya Chavan also finishing on the same score. In inner 10 and count back, Shaurya got second and Ajinkya got third position.
In the final event of the championship, Shikha Narwal of India won the junior women’s 50m pistol with a score of 530. Esha Singh was second with 529 while Navdeep Kaur stood third with 526.
Overall, pistol discipline stole a march for India over the other two, which included 26 of the 43 medals on offer.
Shotgun won nine medals while rifle won eight medals.
Olympian Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and Manu Bhaker Reiterated his world class credentials again with a dazzling performance.
Manu was the most successful Indian athlete with four gold and one bronze medals, while Aishwarya broke the junior world record on her way to winning the junior men’s 50m rifle three position gold.
In the shotgun discipline, Gnemat Sekhon in the junior women’s skeet returned with two medals (one gold, one silver) to further enhance her reputation as an outstanding future prospect.
