India logged 8,582 new coronavirus According to the Union Health Ministry’s data updated on Sunday, the total number of infection cases rose to 4,32,22,017, while active cases rose to 44,513.
The death toll rose to 5,24,761 with four deaths, data updated at 8 am.
Active cases comprise 0.10 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.66 per cent, the ministry said.
The active COVID-19 caseload has registered an increase of 4,143 cases in a 24-hour period. According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.71 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 2.02 per cent.
The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 4,26,52,743, while the death rate stood at 1.21 percent. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign have exceeded 195.07 crore.
India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It had crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and crossed the one crore mark on 19 December.
The country crossed the grim milestone of 20 million on May 4 and 30 million on June 23 last year. The four new people include three from Kerala and one from Maharashtra.
