India sees 18,987 covid cases in last 24 hours, active caseload lowest in 215 days

Corona Case Update: India has seen a marginal increase in daily Covid cases as the country recorded 18,987 new cases in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate currently stands at 98.07% which is the highest since March 2020.

In the last 24 hours, 19,808 have been cured in the country, taking the total number of cured people to 3,33,62,709.

Active cases account for less than 1% of the total cases, currently at 0.61% which is the lowest since March 2020

Weekly positivity rate (1.44%) less than 3% for the last 111 days

Daily positivity rate (1.46%) less than 3% for last 45 days

Kerala

Kerala on Wednesday registered a surge in Covid cases as the state recorded 11,079 fresh cases and 123 deaths in the last 24 hours. The daily spike in cases took the total caseload to 48,20,698 and fatalities to 26,571.

The state is showing a decline in daily fresh cases after crossing the 30,000 mark after the Onam festival in August.

A state government release said that with 9,972 more people recovering from the virus since Tuesday, the total recoveries came down to 46,95,904 and the active cases came down to 97,630.

Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases at 1,794, followed by Kozhikode (1,155), Thiruvananthapuram (1,125), Thrissur (1,111) and Kottayam (925).
