India requests Pakistan to give overflight clearance to Srinagar-Sharjah flight

Shortly after the flight’s inauguration, Pakistan refused to allow the flight to travel over its territory.

“Pakistan authorities had given overflight clearance to GoFirst flights on October 23, 24, 26 and 28 in the Srinagar-Sharjah sector,” a government source told PTI. After this the approval was put on hold from October 31 to November 30.

“The over-flight permission for such flights has been denied,” Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Asim Iftikhar Ahmed told a press briefing in Islamabad, adding, “There are different aspects of the issue and the authorities concerned. But completely captured.”

“As a long-pending dispute, it (Kashmir) remains on the agenda of the UN Security Council, pending its resolution and final settlement in accordance with UNSC resolutions,” Ahmed was quoted as saying by PTI.
