Kerala
Kerala recorded 7,643 new COVID cases and 77 deaths on Tuesday, taking the caseload to 48,59,434 and fatalities to 27,002, as reported by PTI. The state is showing a decline in daily cases after crossing the 30,000 mark after the Onam festival in August.
A state government release said that with 10,488 more people recovering from the virus since Monday, the total recoveries rose to 47,60,781 and active cases came down to 80,262.
In the last 24 hours, 82,408 samples were tested.
Maharashtra
According to the state health ministry, Maharashtra reported 1,638 new coronavirus positive cases and 49 deaths on Tuesday, taking the number of infections to 65,94,820 and the toll to 1,39,865, while 2,791 patients were cured. The official said that the total number of recoveries in Maharashtra has risen to 64,24,547, taking the state to 26,805 active cases.
Maharashtra’s COVID-19 recovery rate now stands at 97.42 per cent while the death rate stands at 2.12 per cent. With 1,32,467 new tests, the number of samples tested so far in Maharashtra has gone up to 6,12,48,820, the official said.
Four districts and six municipal corporations in the state did not report any fresh COVID-19 cases, he said. Mumbai reported 314 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths and Pune city reported 123 infections and one death.
The official said that among the eight regions of Maharashtra, Mumbai region recorded the maximum number of 615 new COVID-19 cases, followed by Pune region with 497 cases.
