India head coach Ravi Shastri basking in the glory of Lord’s Triumph

Head coach Ravi Shastri is ranked ninth after one of his best wins in India’s Test history and that too at Lord’s. Cricket Land. Virat Kohli-led Team India beat England by 151 runs on the last day of the match to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

It was a day for Indian bowlers to bowl with both bat and ball.

Coach Shastri took to Twitter to celebrate the win with players and support staff and wrote that winning at Lord’s as a coach and player is a ‘special’ feeling. The coach asked everyone to ‘enjoy the moment’.

Apart from coach Shastri, the Indian cricket fraternity lauded the brave and resilient efforts made by Team India to register a win against England at Lord’s.

Shastri, who was part of the Indian team that won the 1983 World Cup at Lord’s, is now the guiding force behind many of their victories.

This is the third time in history that India has won Test cricket at Lord’s and Virat Kohli has become the third Indian Test captain to do so.

The decision to bat first before losing the toss proved to be a boon for Team India. KL Rahul scored a brilliant century in the first innings, his sixth century in Test cricket, as India scored 364 runs. England got off to a poor start, but courtesy a brilliant 180 from captain Joe Root, the hosts posted 391 runs. Second. The innings was where the tables turned. India lost their openers early, followed by skipper Kohli.

Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara provided stability while maintaining a century partnership. India were 181/6 at the end of Day 4.

Pantand Ishant Sharma was dismissed early on the fifth day, leaving the onus on Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah to take the lead.

England focused on the Indian tailenders with bouncers. However, the decision backfired due to an unbeaten 89-run partnership between Shami and Bumrah, which set a new record as the duo’s partnership for the ninth wicket became the highest for India in overseas Tests.
