India has achieved 105 crore COVID19 vaccinations

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday announced on Twitter that India has completed 105 crore Covid-19 vaccinations.

The Union Health Ministry said that 66 lakh (66,55,033) doses of vaccine have been given till 7 pm on Thursday. According to the ministry, the daily vaccination numbers are expected to increase with the compilation of the final report by late night.

The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16, with health workers being vaccinated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2.

Mansukh Mandaviya took to Twitter to announce India’s achievement.

The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination began from March 1 for people above 60 years of age and 45 years and above with specified co-morbid conditions.

The country started vaccination for all people over the age of 45 from 1 April.

The government then decided to expand its vaccination campaign by allowing everyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated from May 1.
