India expresses concern over China’s military build-up along LAC in front of eastern Ladakh

New Delhi: China is investing heavily in military infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) opposite eastern Ladakh, which has raised India’s concerns over the buildup by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), news agency ANI reported.

According to ANI, India had expressed concern over this matter during the recent talks between the countries. The cause of concern for India is that China is building highways and connecting roads and is building settlements on its side. They have also reportedly deployed heavy weapons and missile regiments along the border.

Military upgrades are important for India as they are widening highways and building new airstrips in addition to main bases at Kashgar, Gul Gunsa and Hotan.

Sources told ANI that a major wide highway is being developed which will improve connectivity between Chinese military posts and the mainland. Their focus is on keeping the Army and Air Force out of reach of US satellites.

At the same time, they are also recruiting Tibetans alongside mainland Han troops because it is easier for Tibetans to survive in difficult terrain, which is a problem for mainland troops.

While the Chinese are better prepared for winter this year in terms of equipment, shelters, road connectivity and adaptation, sources revealed that India is also well prepared for any upcoming situation.

As per the ANI report, India has diverted many of its Pakistan-focused armed forces to the high altitude areas and has taken several other measures to strengthen the troops to deal with the extreme winters.
