Here are the various events and the dates across which the Indian contingent shall be competing at the 2024 Paris Paralympics:

India will send its largest contingent so far, 84 athletes, for the Paris Paralympic Games, which is scheduled to be held from August 28 to September 8.

In Tokyo, India sent 54 athletes, including just 14 women. For Paris, the team has expanded to 84 athletes, with women making up 32 participants. And it also turned out to be their most successful Paralympic Games with the country winning 19 medals including five gold, eight silver and six bronze.

India will compete in three new sports – para cycling, para rowing and blind judo – at the Paris Paralympics, extending the country’s participation to 12 sports. Overall, 22 sports will be held at Paris 2024.

Here are the various events and the dates across which the Indian contingent shall be competing at the 2024 Paris Paralympics:

PARA ARCHERY (Starting From 29th August)

There are six different events in para archery that India shall be partaking in, and they are as follows:

  • Men’s Individual Recurve Open (Category – ST)
  • Women’s Individual Recurve Open (Category -ST)
  • Mixed Team Recurve Open (Category – ST)
  •  Men’s Individual Compound Open (Category – W2)
  • Women’s Individual Compound Open (Category – W2)
  • Mixed Team Compound Open (Category – W2)

PARA ATHLETICS (Starting From 30th August)

As one of the most awaited events, the Indian para-athletic contingent will be partaking in 27 events in Athletics at Paris. They are as follows:

  • Women’s 100m- T12
  • Women’s 200m- T12
  • Women’s 400m -T20
  • Women’s 100m – T35
  • Women’s 200m – T35
  • Men’s 400m – T47
  • Women’s 1500 metres- T11
  • Men’s Javelin Throw – F64

PARA SHOOTING (Starting From 30th August)

India, at the Paris Olympics, found the most success in the Shooting events, and hopefully the para-athletes will also carry forward the momentum and aim for victory. India will be partaking in 11 events in Shooting and they are as follows:

  • P1 – Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1
  • P2 – Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1
  • P3- Mixed 25m Pistol SH1
  • P4 – Mixed 50m Pistol SH1
  • R1 – Men’s 10m Air Rifle Std SH1
  • R2- Women’s 10m Air Rifle Std SH1
  • R3 – Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prn SH1
  • R4 – Mixed 10m Air Rifle Std SH2
  • R5 – Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prn SH2
  • R6 – Mixed 50m Rifle Prone SH1
  • R8 – Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Pos. SH1

PARA BADMINTON (Starting From August 29)

Following a disappointing shoecase by the Indians at the Olympics, the para-shuttlers will be looking to seek redemption, as they will partake in 10 events in the sport at the Paris Paralympics. They are as follows:

  • Men’s Singles SL3
  • Men’s Singles SH6
  • Men’s Singles SL4
  • Men’s Singles S4
  • Women’s Singles SL3
  • Women’s Singles SL4
  • Women’s Singles SU5
  • Women’s Singles SH6
  • Mixed Doubles SL3-SU5
  • Mixed Doubles SH6

PARA CANOE (Starting From 6th September)

There are 3 different events under para-canoeing that India shall be partaking in and they are as follows:

  • Women’s Va’a Single 200m VL2
  • Men’s Kayak Single 200m -KL1
  • Women’s Kayak Single 200m -KL1

PARA CYCLING (Starting From 29th August)

The Indian contingent will be competing in 8 events across the sport of para-cycling. One thing to note here is that there are two categories: Road and Track repectively. The events are as follows:

Road (Starting from September 4)

  • Road – Men’s C2 Ind. Time Trial
  • Road – Men’s C1-3 Road Race
  • Road – Women’s C1-3 Ind. Time Trial
  • Road – Women’s C1-3 Road Race

Track (Starting from August 29)

  • Track – Men’s C1-3 1000m Time Trial
  • Track – Men’s C2 3000m Ind. Pursuit
  • Track – Women’s C1-3 500m Time Trial
  • Track – Women’s C1-3 3000m Ind. Pursuit

PARA JUDO (Starting From 5th September)

Indians will be competing in two Para-Judo events at the upcoming Paralympics, and they are as follows:

  • Men’s -60kg J1
  • Women’s -48kg J2

PARA POWERLIFTING (4 CATEGORIES)

Taking on inspiration from Mirabai Chanu, and her close call to almost clinching India more silverware at the Paris Olympics, the Indian para-powerlifters shall take their chances across 4 events, as follows:

  • Men’s up to 49kg
  • Men’s up to 65kg
  • Women’s up to 45kg
  • Women’s up to 67kg

PARA ROWING (2 CATEGORIES)

Indians will be competing in one Para-Rowing event at the upcoming Paralympics, and it is as follows:

  • PR3 Mix Dbl Sculls-PR3Mix2x

PARA SWIMMING (1 CATEGORY)

Indians will be competing in one Para-Swimming event at the upcoming Paralympics, and it is as follows:

  • Men’s 50m Butterfly – S7

PARA TABLE TENNIS (3 CATEGORIES)

Once again, after a historic run by the Indian women at the Paris Olympics, the para-paddlers shall attempt to recreate the same, as they partake in three different events as follows:

  • Women’s Singles- WS3
  • Women’s Singles- WS4
  • Women’s Doubles- WD10

PARA TAEKWONDO (1 CATEGORY)

Indians will be competing in one Para-Taekwondo event at the upcoming Paralympics, and it is as follows:
