In the match played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow, the Indian team completely dominated the visiting team and did not give it a chance to recover till the last.

In the first T20I, Sri Lankan captain Dasoon Shanaka won the toss and invited India to bat first. After this, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan together gave the team a strong start. Both of them shared a quick partnership of 111 runs in 12 overs. However, Rohit Sharma missed his half-century and was dismissed for 44 runs. But Ishaan continued to score runs fast and completed his fifty in 30 balls. Ishaan was on his way towards his century but he got out on the score of 89. After the dismissal of these two players, Shreyas Iyer took charge and completed his fifty in just 25 balls. He remained unbeaten on 57 off 28 balls and managed to set a target of 200 runs in front of Sri Lanka.

Ishan Kishan (89) scored the most runs for India. Whereas Shreyas (57 *) and Rohit Sharma (44) played brilliant innings of runs. Lahiru Kumara and Dasoon Shanaka took one wicket each for Sri Lanka.

Chasing the target, the Sri Lankan team had a very poor start and Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave it the first blow on the very first ball. After this, Bhuvneshwar in his next over also showed the way to the pavilion to the second opening batsman. The visiting team could not recover from these setbacks and lost their six wickets within 100 runs. However, Charith Aslanka (53*) showed some struggle and held on till the end after completing his half-century. Dushmanta Chamira also played some big shots in the last over and scored runs but they were not enough for the team. Sri Lanka’s team could only manage 137 runs in 20 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Charith Aslanka (53 *) scored the most runs for Sri Lanka, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Venkatesh Iyer took two wickets each for India.
