He shared a quickfire 80-run partnership with opener Shubman Gill, who also scored his maiden century in the shortest format of the game.

Rahul performed a variety of shots but the one that stood out was the one he played against Lockie Ferguson. New Zealand bowls a quicker ball towards off. Rahul continued his fireworks till he was caught by Ferguson off Ish Sodhi while trying to bring up his maiden half-century with a big hit. He walked out after scoring 44 but won praise for his brilliant cameo.
