Heavy dew has been predicted for the second T20 International between India and New Zealand, which is to be played in front of a full house at the JSCA International Stadium complex here on Friday.

According to Jharkhand State Cricket Association secretary Sanjay Sahay, they are hoping for a full house after the state government gave the green signal to “100 per cent capacity”.

According to a notification by the state government, those who have been double vaccinated or have negative RT-PCR results will be allowed entry into the venue.

Sahai told PTI, “The state government has given the nod to full capacity and we are ready to see a full house in India after a long, long time. Food will also be available in the stands. Normalcy is back again.” Has been.”

“People are fed up after being in lockdown for almost two years and matches, so there is a huge excitement for tomorrow’s match. People will be on the streets again.” However, he said that they will take appropriate COVID measures. “There will be multiple tests and viewers will have to submit a double vaccination certificate or a negative RT-PCR result within 48 hours.”

He said the 39,000-capacity stadium has tickets priced between Rs 900 and Rs 9,000 and all tickets are “virtually sold out”.

“We have around 80 tickets left which are all for emergency quota and we do not put them up for sale. Seats remain vacant so we are ready at full capacity,” he said.

Ranchi’s favorite son, former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is also in his hometown, but the top JSCA officials were unconvinced about his presence during the match.

Sahai said, ‘Dhoni is only here and today also played tennis in the stadium court. But we cannot say whether he will come for the match or not.

Meanwhile, veteran chief curator Shyam Bahadur Singh said “heavy dew is expected from 7.30 pm”, which could mean that the toss will play an important role.

“There is a possibility of heavy dew after 7.30 pm. We will take all possible measures to minimize the impact,” Singh said.

As far as the wicket is concerned, it will be a batting friendly surface with little advantage for the bowlers.

“It will be a sporting wicket. T20 is a game of entertainment, not the classic version. People will come to watch some power hitting and not Ranji or Test.” He said the pitch was last used in July during the Jharkhand State T20 tournament.

As far as international cricket is concerned, the stadium last hosted a Test match against South Africa in October 2019, while a T20 International returned to the city after 2017.

Having emerged victorious in T20Is against Sri Lanka and Australia, India have an all-win record here.
