IND vs ENG: Former cricketer said Rohit Sharma missed Jasprit Bumrah in the third ODI; why over here

India bowled well at Old Trafford as they bundled out England for 259 in the third ODI but the score could have been even lower had Craig Overen and David Willey been dismissed early.

India had England, but then Jos Buttler (60) combined with Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone to score two fifty-plus runs to get England out of trouble. But the Indian bowlers retaliated, especially Hardik Pandya who removed both Butler and Livingstone in just a few balls.

Nonetheless, Overton and Willie put on a crucial 48-run partnership to give England the lead at the end of the innings.

When asked about the Indian bowlers’ inability to wield the tail, the former India Fast bowler RP Singh said that they were working very hard.

“India had seen David Willey in the last match, they could have planned for him. If you had got Buttler out, this partnership should have ended early. And that has been a problem with Indian bowlers as they try to force tail-enders out,” he told Cricbuzz YouTube channel.

Also, Pragyan Ojha felt that this is where India missed Jasprit Bumrah.

“I thought Rohit Sharma put in a lot of effort there, but he missed someone like Jasprit Bumrah there. Because when the famous Krishna or Mohammad Siraj came to bowl, they were not getting any movement with the old ball. So he made the stand (between Wiley and Overton). With the new ball you can say that both of them can get you wickets, but when the ball got old, they were not getting any movement at all. That’s where he (Rohit) misses Bumrah because he gets you wickets with that kind of ball,” Ojha said.

“I think Rohit missed a trick there, he could have used the spinners as the ball was not seaming at all. I think they were trying too hard and it proved costly.” World Cup winner RP Singh.
