Twitter’s reaction to Alex Lees’ heroism
Edgbaston| At the start of Day 4, Pant and Pujara were at the crease, and India were all set to post a big total to chase down England. But the British attack was ambitious enough to control the Indian team and they hit a four in the very first hour of the day’s play. Cheteshwar Pujara,
Captain Ben Stokes was in the lead as he put on his best performance in the table and claimed 4 Indian wickets which halted India’s innings. Earlier, England chased down 359 against the Aussies at Headingley, Leeds, their highest target in the longest format of the game.
India had to bat all day and only one day was given to the England batsmen to chase down the target. As England are down 2-1 in the series, they have no option but to go for the win.
Shreyas Iyer, the middle-order batsman and India’s number five batsman for this match, had to face a lot of trouble due to a barrage of bouncers. He soon fell victim to the English short bowling scheme and was soon followed by Rishabh Pant. India were bundled out for 245 and England now have a chase of 378 to win.
When the pairing of Alex Lees and Jack Crowley came in, everyone realized that they were only minor walkovers and it would be too easy to get them out. But little did anyone know what Lees and Crowley were trying to do, the English batsmen were quick to attack and did not provide any relief to India’s domineering pace battery. Both shared a 100-run partnership.
