IND vs ENG 2022: Umpire tells Stuart Broad to ‘shut up’ after heated exchange

A video clip of a heated argument between England pacer Stuart Broad and umpire Richard Kettleborough has gone viral on social media. This incident happened on the third day of the Edgbaston Test match between England and India.

In the viral video, Broad can be heard arguing with Kettleborough. The 49-year-old umpire’s befitting reply to Broad’s comments taken by the stump mic is breaking the internet.

Stuart Broad came out to bat on the third day of the Edgbaston Test and faced bouncers straight from the Indian pace attack. Things spiraled out of control after Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah somehow dealt with a bouncer.

Broad eventually lost his cool and got into an argument with the umpire Kettleborough. This is when the English umpire told the England cricketer to “shut up” and “move on with the batting”.

“Let’s officiate – you bat, okay?” The umpire said.

“Otherwise you’ll be in trouble again. One for the over. Brody! Brody! Go on with the bat and shut up,” Kettleborough said.

Here are some of the Twitter reactions of cricket fans to the viral footage.

The 36-year-old England pacer failed to do anything significant as he was dismissed for just one run in the first innings by Mohammad Siraj. Earlier, during India’s first innings, Broad found himself in the limelight again by setting an unwanted world record.

Broad conceded 35 runs in an over and Bumrah drove him around the ground. This over has become the most expensive over bowled in the history of Test cricket.

He took the record from former South African spinner Robin Pietersen, who had conceded 28 runs in an over to Brian Lara in 2003.

Broad though finished with a wicket in the first innings. India Recorded a huge score of 416. In the second innings, Broad improved his bowling figures slightly and took two wickets for 58 runs.

He picked up important wickets of experienced Indian batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari. England captain Ben Stokes took four wickets to restrict the visiting team to just 245 in the second innings.
