It took the 32-year-old 80 ODIs to reach his 150th position in the format, surpassing the previous Indian record of Ajit Agarkar, who did so in 97 matches.

Mohammed Shami broke the record for the fastest 150 ODI wickets by dismissing England captain Jos Buttler at The Oval on Tuesday. Shami achieved the milestone during the start of the first ODI in the middle of the series India and England in London.

It took the 32-year-old 80 ODIs to reach his 150th position in the format, surpassing the previous Indian record of Ajit Agarkar, who did so in 97 matches.

During the 15th over of England’s innings, Shami left his third ball short and Butler went for a pull shot, but it could not go right as he dismissed Suryakumar Yadav for 30 runs at deep backward square leg. With his departure, the hosts went into a tizzy. Deep hole on 59/7 when India skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first in cloudy conditions.

Overall, Australia pacer Mitchell Starc holds the record for the fastest 150 wickets in 77 matches and is second only to former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, with Shami and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan in joint third place. Huh.
