In this match, regular captain Rohit Sharma has returned for India and he would like to make a big contribution with the bat.

Australia captain Steve Smith invited India to bat after winning the toss in the second ODI against India in Visakhapatnam. Rohit Sharma returned to captain India after missing the first ODI due to family commitments. Rohit came in place of Ishan Kishan, who opened the batting in the last match.

“We will have one bowl. Different surfaces, which have been covered for a while, can do something. Just a partnership in the middle would have helped us. For India, pacer Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets and giving away valuable wickets in terms of runs in six overs. He got good support from Mohammad Siraj, who also took three wickets. Jadeja took two wickets for 46 runs.

India’s answer was not quite correct. They lost four wickets in 10 overs with Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill all returning to the pavilion. Stand-in skipper Hardik along with KL Rahul tried to revive the innings but fell with the team scoring 83. Then Rahul and Jadeja ensured there were no further hiccups and India reached home with five wickets in hand and 10 overs to spare. While Rahul remained not out after scoring 75 runs in 91 balls, Jadeja remained unbeaten after scoring 45 runs in 69 balls.

India would like to register a win in Visakhapatnam, which will give them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. The last match of the series is to be played in Chennai on 22 March.
