January 29, 2023 – After what Shafali Verma and her team did in Potchefstroom on Sunday, this date marks a glorious chapter in the history of women’s cricket in India. Shefali could not hold back her tears during the presentation ceremony. She could barely utter a word, but she gathered herself together and said, “So happy with the way all the girls are performing and supporting each other. Incredible feeling. “All thanks to them. The players have been supporting me a lot. Thanks to BCCI for giving me this beautiful team and really happy to win the cup. She (Shweta Sehrawat) has been excellent and has followed all the plans of the staff Not just her, Archana, Saumya and I really can’t name anyone but they are all incredible.”

While the rest of the team will return home with the trophy, Shafali and wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh will join the senior South African team for the T20 World Cup next month.
