Chandigarh, December 8
The Income Tax Department on Wednesday raided the residential and office premises of the directors of Torque Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd, JW Marriott Hotel and their respective entities.
The raid also included residences of Paramjit Singh Chhatwal, Amar Iqbal Singh Bedi, Director, Torque Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd and Harpal Singh, owner of JW Marriott Hotel in Chandigarh.
According to sources, raids have been conducted at 22 different locations located in Chandigarh, Punjab and Mumbai. The raids started around 7.30 am and continued till late night.
Sources revealed that the officials have seized important documents including property papers and electronic devices recovered from various premises.
Documents and electronic devices are being scrutinized by the tax authorities to check the unaccounted income generated by these entities.
The sources also revealed that during the raids several documents related to benami properties and foreign investments were found, which are being investigated.
The search has been done under the guidance of Anand Jha, PR. It is headed by Director of Income Tax (Inv.) and Ankur Alia, Additional. Director of Income Tax (Inv.) and Jyotinder Kaur Bajwa, Dy. Director of Income Tax (Inv.)
