In response to Ryan Reynolds, Kangana Ranaut calls Hollywood ‘trying to steal our screens’

Showcasing his unusual wit, Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds shared a special message for his Indian fans ahead of the release of Free Guy in the country and said that the film has every element of a classic Bollywood film. Directed by Sean Levy, Free Guy stars Reynolds as a bank teller who discovers he is a background character in an open world video game called Free City that will soon go offline.

The adventure comedy released in the country on Friday in English and Hindi. In a video posted by 20th Century Studios India on its YouTube page, Reynolds drew parallels between the tropes of Free Guy and Hindi films, with a classic hero-heroine-villain arc packed with action and music.

“Hello India. My new movie ‘Free Guy’ has a guy named ‘Cow’ who’s quite a Romeo, a girl who’s out of her league, a crazy villain, some crazy action and, of course, dancing. “If you are wondering if Hollywood is copying Bollywood right now, the answer is yes. We have no shame. There is no shame,” the 44-year-old actor said in the video.

Kangana Ranaut reacted on social media after Reynolds posted this video. Sharing an Instagram post containing Reynolds’ statement, Kangana said that Hollywood is trying to steal theater screens as well. She said, “And trying to steal our screen…”

Kangana has also expressed concern over Hollywood films overshadowing Indian films in India. While promoting Thalaivi at a recent press conference, he said, “We need to discourage American and English films as they are occupying our screens. We need to behave like a nation. We need to enjoy our own movies first, be it Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu or Punjabi.
