Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday took to Twitter to speak about his journey as a civil servant during the tenure of 11 Indian Prime Ministers. Lakshmi M Puri, his wife and former Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and currently a commentator on national and international affairs, combined this with his personal visit.
Puri, who holds the portfolios of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Petroleum and Natural Gas, shared some rare photographs. He wrote: “Had the privilege of being a civil servant during the tenure of 11 Indian Prime Ministers, who is himself in a historic second term, before being invited to join his Council of Ministers in September 2017 by PM Modi ji. Witnessed many important events. Started in 1978 with the first non-Congress Prime Minister, Shri Morarji Desai.

Shri Puri, a 1974 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, began his journey as a bureaucrat in 1978, when Morarji Desai was the Prime Minister.
He also shared pictures with PM Modi and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
In the thread, along with some more rare photographs, he wrote: “#PMsanghalaya is an iconic tribute to the veterans- the first non-Congress PM to complete a full term Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, farmer leader Ch Charan Singh ji, Chandrashekhar ji, PV Narasimha Rao ji who opened the economy, first Sikh PM Dr Manmohan Singh ji.
In another tweet he wrote: “My External Affairs Minister IK Gujral ji, HD Deve Gowda ji, Smt Indira Gandhi ji, Rajiv Gandhi ji and VP Singh ji. To immortalize the contribution of these great leaders for present and future generations. Requires PM @narendramodi ji’s bipartisan dedication to India’s democratic institutions.”
Lakshmi M Puri’s reaction with the rare pictures was also epic.
She tweeted: “At 11 pm on this professional a personal journey between a Marathi/Kannadiga and a Sikh is also attached – We met as batchmates in 1978 – Pyaar – Khil gaya – Married – Two lovely daughters – Three Precious grandchildren. Couple, friend and partner. @indiandiplomats”
