Mangaluru: Mangaluru Taluk, including the areas under Mangaluru Municipal Corporation (MCC) has recorded remarkable progress, with over 93.5% of the target population receiving the first dose of vaccine against COVID-19.
The taluk has achieved 92.6% of the target in the first dose in the above 60 category and 100.9% in the 45-59 years category. Meanwhile, 87.4% of the people in the 18-44 years category have also received their first dose of vaccine in Mangaluru. While the target population of the taluk is 8,24,462, 7,54,994 have been given the first dose, Dr. Sujay BhandaryTaluk Health Officer.
Meanwhile, 60 out of 422 villages in Dakshina Kannada district have achieved 100% of the target by giving the first dose of vaccine to all eligible beneficiaries. Overall, Dakshina Kannada district has achieved 90% of its target in the first dose and about 63% in the second dose. While 25.4 doses were administered in the district on Wednesday, 15.3 lakh beneficiaries received the first dose and 10.1 lakh were covered with both the doses. The district has set a target to vaccinate 17,15,000 beneficiaries. The district has given more than 80,000 doses of the vaccine in the past week through an intensive campaign, which also includes door-to-door visits. Har Ghar Dastak Campaign.
DHO Kishore Kumar Mohd “We have collected the list of eligible beneficiaries above 18 years in 422 villages of the district. On the basis of the list, door-to-door campaign is being run. Vaccines caused by real causes, including chronic disease. About 85% of those who received the first dose of the vaccine in villages have also received a second dose,” he said.
He said that eight villages in Bantwal taluk, 22 in Belthangadi, 17 in Mangaluru, 5 in Puttur and 8 villages in Sulia taluk have vaccinated all the targeted beneficiaries with the first dose. MCC commissioner Akshay Sridhar said that door-to-door survey is being done through 10 urban PHCs of municipal limits.
