The month of Sawan, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is being observed nationwide. On Monday, the devotees of Lord Shiva gather at the temple to perform Jalabhishek and other rituals to please the god of the universe. With the same aim, the devotees reached Baba Giddheshwarnath Mahadev temple in the Jamui district of Bihar before things took a downturn when a snake was potted around the temple premises.
In this month of Sawan, devotees consider snakes around the Lord Shiva temple, a good omen. In the blink of an eye, the snake performed such a feat that the onlookers were stunned. It started climbing the tree.
This strange incident came to light when thousands of devotees reached Baba Giddheshwarnath Mahadev temple in Jamui to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva on Monday, July 29. A snake was spotted outside the temple premises which scared the devotees at first. The visitors first saw the snake resting around the temple premises. After some time, the snake left its place and entered inside a motorcycle. The onlookers got scared and started removing it with the help of tree branches.
During this, the snake first came out of one bike and then entered another bike. After shifting its location to three motorcycles, the snake went and wrapped itself around a Peepal tree nearby. It started climbing the tree, leaving the onlookers shocked. The security personnel were also informed about the snake’s presence around the temple premises. However, even after an intense search, the rescuers did not find the snake around the temple.
The strange sight of a snake on Sawan Monday in Jamui has now become a topic of discussion among the devotees. Many believe that it was the blessings of Lord Shiva that the snake was found around the temple premises. The snake performed a rare feat of climbing the tree which further proved the existence of Lord Shiva in the month of Sawan.
In Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is often depicted with snakes. The snake around Shiva’s neck is also believed to represent the endless cycle of birth and regeneration. The coil of snakes around the Shiva reminds devotees to keep their egos in check.
