The meeting took place yesterday afternoon at the office of the State Election Commission in Kolkata. Sources claimed that the state police and administration representatives have promised to support the Election Commission in all possible ways in the upcoming civic polls. The commission has sought a proposal from the officials concerned as to how many police personnel and officers would be deployed for the elections. Meanwhile, the commission is framing the rules for the elections.

Chief Secretary Harikrishna Dwivedi, Home Secretary BP Gopalika, Health Secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam, DG Manoj Malviya and ADG Law and Order Javed Shamim were present in the meeting. State Election Commissioner Saurav Das discussed with him. Security inside and outside the booth will also be ensured as per the rules of the commission.

Earlier, the state government had proposed voting on December 19. The State Election Commission has sealed it. There will be more than five thousand booths in Kolkata. However, in the case of Howrah, the exact number of booths was not announced like that. Once the complete list is declared, action will be possible on other issues including security.
