Sutar said outstation trains running from Dadar and Mumbai CSMT can either be operated through the newly activated Down fast line passing through Kalwa and Mumbra or can be diverted through the Parsik tunnel route depending on the situation.
MRVC chief PRO Sunil Udasi said around 500 workers were pressed into services, including cutting and connecting railway lines in Thane and Diva, as well as re-working on allied systems including signals among others. Udasi said a 72-hour block scheduled in early February will be used to activate the last phase of the corridor, converting the redundant up slow line into a fast line between Diva and Thane.
