Continuous heavy rainfall has triggered severe waterlogging in several parts of Mumbai.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and predicted heavy rainfall over the city for the next two days.

Mumbai has been experiencing heavy monsoon showers since Thursday. In a 13-hour period between 8 am and 9 pm, the city recorded 52.89 mm of rainfall on Friday.

Continuous downpours have led to severe waterlogging in several parts of the city. Several roads have been closed and traffic has been diverted on various routes following the waterlogging situation.

Intense monsoon rains continue to batter Maharashtra, and the Met Department has forecast further heavy downpours in the next 24 hours.

Yellow alert for 12 districts of Maharashtra

Heavy rains are expected to lash Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan, and Goa regions on Saturday. Besides Mumbai, IMD has issued a yellow alert for 12 districts in the state including Pune, Thane, Nashik, and Palghar districts.

IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in the southern states of Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam during the next two days.

Heavy rains are set to hit Karnataka, prompting a red alert for Udupi and Uttar Kannada, according to IMD’s daily weather bulletin for Saturday.

The Met Department has issued a red alert for Uttara Kannada, Shimoga, Udupi, and Chikmagalur districts on July 20.

Heavy Rains To Hit Gujarat, IMD Issues Warning

IMD has issued a red alert for Gujarat and predicted extremely heavy rainfall in the western state over the next two days. Heavy showers are likely to batter Gujarat, including the Saurashtra and Kutch regions on July 21 and 22.

IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In Uttarakhand, UP

The Met Department has also predicted heavy rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and East Rajasthan over the next five days, and over Punjab and West Rajasthan in the next two days.

Heavy Rain Alert For Assam, Meghalaya For Next 5 Days

Heavy rains are expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya over the next five days. Heavy downpours are likely in Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on July 20 and 21.
