‘I’m not his first victim’ – This is what Casper Roode said after losing to Rafa Nadal in the final of the 2022 French Open. To be honest, it couldn’t have been better. We have also fallen short of adjectives to describe Nadal and his greatness.

Casper Roode was brilliant in some moments, but Rafa proved to be as good as ever. At the age of 36, Nadal has become the oldest player to win the French Open title. It is also his 22nd Grand Slam.

The match lasted two hours and 18 minutes and that was all it took for Nadal to beat Rudd.

It is worth noting that Nadal had not faced Roode in the tournament before, but since Rudd is a product of the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Spain, Nadal has practiced with him several times.

Here is the list of records that Nadal made after winning Rudo Vs.

  • He broke the record of the late Andres Gimenotto to become the oldest Roland Garros men’s singles champion in history. Andres set the record in 1972 at the age of 34.
  • He won the French Open and the Australian Open for the first time in the same year.
  • He won the French Open trophy for the 14th time and will this be his record 22nd Grand Slam title.
  • He will equal his lowest ranking as a Grand Slam champion. He was also No. 5 at the French Open 2005 and Australian Open 2022.
