Ilaiyaraaja pays tribute to Lata Mangeshkar, says ‘I don’t know how I will come out of this’ – Henry Club

Musician Ilaiyaraaja joins lakhs in paying tribute to the late singer Lata Mangeshkarwhich led to death COVID-19 Related complications at age 92 on Sunday. In a recorded video message shared on Twitter, the musician said that his demise is a huge loss not only to the music industry, but to the entire world.

He wrote in his tweet, “Heartbroken but blessed to know him and work with him.. Loved this incredible voice and soul… Lataji holds a place in our hearts that is irreplaceable… This is how he has made a deep impact on our lives with his voice.”

In her video in Tamil, she said, “In the history of Indian film music, for the last six-seven decades, Latha ji enthralled the world with her divine voice. I am deeply saddened by her passing, which has created a huge in me. The emptiness is left. I don’t know how I will come out of this. His passing is going to be a great loss not only to the music industry but to the entire world.”

She further added, “My deepest condolences to his family, Asha ji, Hridaynath ji, Usha ji…” The late singer has lent voice to several songs of the composer, including “Valai Osai Kalavena”. Recalling the story of how Mangeshkar came to record the song, Ilaiyaraaja had told The Hindu, “When I played the tune, Kamal Haasan liked it and wanted to use it in the film. Lata Mangeshkar will be cremated with full state honors Shivaji Park in Mumbai PM on Sunday in the presence of Narendra Modi, Known as the Nightingale of India, her career spanned seven decades and over 25,000 songs. He has been awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour.
