IIT Graduate And Star Plus Actor, Now Becomes UPSC Topper

Succeeding in civil services is not easy; it requires hard work. Today, we will share the story of a topper who switched to UPSC after studying at IIT and acting. He achieved a 185th rank after just two years of preparation.

We are talking about Abhay Daga, who achieved the 185th rank in the UPSC this year. He was born in Wardha, Maharashtra, and comes from a family of doctors. Abhay completed his 11th and 12th grades in Hyderabad, where he did well in the tough competition. After that, he got admitted to IIT Kharagpur.

Abhay, studying computer science engineering at IIT Kharagpur, developed an interest in acting. Cultural events at the college prompted him to participate in plays and theater. During this time, he landed a role in the popular Star Plus show ‘Siya Ke Ram,’ which sparked his desire to become an actor in the Hindi film industry.

While studying at IIT, Abhay continued acting and got a job at Microsoft in 2018, joining the cyber team. At that time, UPI was rapidly growing in India, and many people were becoming victims of online fraud due to a lack of digital literacy. Seeing this, Abhay decided to leave his job and pursue UPSC instead.

In 2021, Abhay quit his job to prepare for UPSC through self-study. After two years of hard work, he took his first UPSC exam in 2023 and achieved a 185th rank on his first attempt.
