IIT Delhi to set up campus in Abu-Dhabi, govt sign MoU

New Delhi: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Ministry of Education and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) to set up the first campus of IIT Delhi in Abu Dhabi.

The signing took place in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. The MoU was signed by HE Mubarak Hamad Al Mhairi, Under-Secretary, ADEK, Sanjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador to UAE and Professor Rangan Banerjee, Director, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

Complementing the ongoing UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the MoU seeks to prioritize educational excellence, innovation, knowledge exchange and investment in human capital as the foundation of future prosperity and long-term enablers for both countries. reflects the shared vision of Economic growth and sustainable development.

Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan expressed his happiness through social media on the signing of the MoU, saying that the MoU marks a new beginning for setting up IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi . He further added that the IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi will set a new blueprint for leveraging the power of knowledge for both mutual prosperity and global good. He said that it also opens a new chapter in the internationalization of India’s education.

IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi will complement the academic, research and innovation ecosystem in Abu Dhabi through collaborations with key players such as the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Khalifa University, New York University Abu Dhabi, Technology Innovation Institute and Hub71. programs, conduct cutting edge research and grow the local startup ecosystem.
