To address the water security issues before Delhi, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) will collaborate to take up research and development initiatives on water supply and distribution. This will include research on wastewater transport, treatment, recycling, reuse and disposal.
They will jointly develop a smart operation and management framework for DJB’s water and wastewater infrastructure. In addition, education and training modules for in-service officers of DJB will also be developed through collaboration.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by IIT Delhi and Delhi Jal Board, both sides will develop policy for waste water treatment and its reuse/recycling and best practices to achieve the goal of zero waste discharge in drains and river Will work towards the initiative. Yamuna, the institute said.
Additionally, IIT Delhi, and DJB will work together to create shared knowledge platforms and disseminate data and information products to improve understanding of water and wastewater management options for NCT Delhi.
