IGL hikes CNG prices Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has today increased the prices of domestic piped natural gas (PNG) as well as CNG. The price of CNG in Delhi has been increased by Rs 2.5 per kg to Rs 71.61 per kg from today. According to IGL, the price of PNG will be Rs 45.86 per unit in Delhi and Rs 45.96 per unit in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. Whereas in Gurugram people will have to pay Rs 44.06 per SCM.

Industry sources said this has increased the cost of IGL, necessitating a price hike. This year itself, the prices have increased by about Rs 13.50 per kg.

The hike in CNG prices comes after the hike in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 10 per liter and LPG rates by Rs 50 per cylinder in 16 days.

As per IGL’s late night notification, the new prices will be effective from April 14, 2022. The company in its official statement claimed that this increase has been made to partially cover the increase in the cost of input gas.

Earlier on April 1, IGL had increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by 80 paise per kg and PNG by Rs 5.85 per cubic meter (16.5 per cent). Earlier on March 24, the price of PNG was increased by Re 1 per SCM.

Meanwhile, after petrol and diesel prices were hiked by Rs 10 in the last 16 days, the fuel rates remained stable for a week with no change in rates. Petrol in the national capital crossed Rs 105 mark yesterday, while in Mumbai it crossed Rs 120.

Overall, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased by Rs 10 per litre. This, notably, is the 14th increase in prices since the end of a four-and-a-half-month-long hiatus in the rate revision on March 22.
