BSF has denied West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s allegations against BSF. Rejecting Mamata’s allegations on Monday evening, DIG (South Bengal) Surjit Singh Guleria said, “Why didn’t the state police inform the BSF if the state had weapons from Bangladesh?” However, he did not comment on the allegations of animal trafficking.
At the same time, the DIG of BSF said, ‘If weapons have come from abroad in West Bengal, then it is not the responsibility of BSF. If any weapon came from Bangladesh, why did the police not inform the BSF about it?’ He acknowledged that some firearms were smuggled from India to Bangladesh. He said the BSF had recovered 24 such firearms and 26 live cartridges last year.
On Monday, Mamta pointed fingers at the Center regarding the smuggling of coal and cattle. He said that CISF handles coal and BSF handles cattle. We have nothing to do with it. Anubrata Mandal, one of Mamta’s trusts in cattle and coal smuggling, has been summoned by the CBI on April 6. Earlier, the Calcutta High Court had refused to save Anubrata. In such a situation, many people feel that Mamta’s comment is important.
