Industrialist Anand Mahindra has gifted 85-year-old Idli Amma a new house. Kamalathal, who hails from Coimbatore, is popularly known as ‘Idli Amma’. She has been feeding idli and sambar to people for the last 37 years. In the second wave of Corona epidemic, the video of Idli Amma went viral on social media. In the video, she was seen feeding idli-sambar to migrant laborers and the poor. This initiative of Idli Amma was also appreciated by Anand Mahindra.

Idli Amma enters new house
While sharing his video, Anand Mahindra promised to gift him a house. Now on the occasion of Mother’s Day, Anand Mahindra has gifted a house to Kamalathal, popularly known as Idli Amma. On this occasion Idli Amma entered her new house. Anand Mahindra shared the video on Twitter, in which Amma is entering her new home. This 300-square-foot home also has a dining hall, a bedroom and a living room. This house built in an urban area has been built at a cost of lakhs.

Idli Amma was seen smiling as she entered her new house. He said that ‘I am happy because I have got a new home. I will be shifting to new house by the end of this month. Anand Mahindra thanked his team, with the help of which the promise of giving Amma a house was fulfilled on Mother’s Day. He said that she is the embodiment of the qualities of a mother, nurturing, caring and selfless. This is nothing in comparison to what Amma has done for so many years.

Used to make 500 idlis on the stove
Idli Amma has been selling idlis on the roadside for the last 37 years. She says that earning money by selling idlis has never been her goal, I want the hungry to get enough food. For this, she used to make more than 500 idlis on the stove every day. After her video went viral, some NGOs came forward to help Amma and got her LPG cylinders and gas stove.
