IDF, Germany exchange medals during Blue Flag exercise

IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohawi presented the Medal of Commendation to the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) Commander Lieutenant-General. On Sunday, the German Ambassador to Israel, Dr. Susan Vasum-Rainer, honored the Commander of the Indian Air Force, Major-General. Amikam Norkin with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the country’s highest honor that the German President can bestow, as a token of appreciation for mutual effort and commitment.

“Our two countries have managed to build a strong partnership and a strong friendship over the past decades against all historical odds on the abyss of the Holocaust. This cooperation was made possible by the trust and confidence in reconciliation,” the ambassador said. said. Blue Flag, which will continue till October 28. The hosts as well as its participants include air force contingents from the US, Germany, Italy, UK, France, India and Greece. It is the largest and most advanced aerial exercise ever conducted in Israel.

The aim of the exercise is to strengthen strategic international cooperation through shared learning about the integration of fourth and fifth generation fighter aircraft in complex operational scenarios. Participating forces will practice air-to-air and air-to-ground combat, learn to avoid advanced surface-to-air missile (SAM) threats and multiple operational scenarios in enemy territory.

Luftwaffe on Sunday and Indian Air Force Conducted a flypast of the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv coast, entitled “The Wings of History”. The formation was led by Norkin in an F-15 “Baaz” fighter, along with an “Adir” F-35 stealth jet. Gerhartz flew with Israeli aircraft in the “Eagle Star” Eurofighter, which was painted with Israeli and German flags.
