Iceberg fell in Lahaul-Spiti’s Teling: Car of four people from Maharashtra hit the Manali-Leh road; BRO opened the road in 2 hours

An iceberg fell on Wednesday near Teling in Himachal’s tribal district Lahaul Spiti. A vehicle hit it. There were 4 people from Solapur district of Maharashtra including the driver of Himachal in the vehicle. They all got stuck there. The administration took them out safely. These four people have come to visit Himachal. At the same time, the Manali-Leh road, which was closed due to the fall of the iceberg, was restored in 2 hours.

Lahaul-Spiti Superintendent of Police Manav Verma said that at around 4:15 am on Wednesday, an avalanche occurred from the Manali-Leh road hill near Teling village. One vehicle was hit by the iceberg, while the other vehicle escaped from being hit. The people in the vehicle in this incident are fine. However, there is damage to the car. Vishal Balasaheb Gadve, Shivshankar Apone, Pratiksha Apone and Gauri Gadve from Solapur, Maharashtra were in this vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was Deep Kumar of Himalayan Passenger Tour and Travels.

He said that he took the lead to restore the road which was closed due to avalanche and the district administration and police stopped the traffic. Due to which long queues of vehicles were formed on both sides of the incident site, but after hard work, the BRO restored the road for traffic in about two hours.
