Here’s a look at the latest standings in different groups of the ongoing ICC U-19 World Cup 2022.

Six teams including Pakistan, England, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates and Canada were playing on the seventh day of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022. Pakistan became the first team from Group C to enter the quarter-finals, while defending champions Bangladesh made a comeback after losing their first clash of the tournament.

Group A

England showed their batting in the match against UAE. Batting first, captain Tom Preset smashed an unbeaten 154 off 119 while Jacob Bethel smashed a 55-ball 62 as England posted a mammoth total of 362/6 in their 50 overs. In reply, the UAE team was bundled out for 173 runs with the help of a half-century from Ali Nasse. Rehan Ahmed was one of the bowlers for the winning side, taking 4/30. The win was England’s third consecutive win and finished their group stage at the top with six points.

In the second Group A clash of the day, Bangladesh beat Canada by eight wickets to get their campaign back on track. Ripon Mondal and SM Mahrob took four wickets each as Canada were bowled out for 136 in 44.3 overs. Iftakher Hossain Ifti made an unbeaten 61 as the defending champions chased down the target in 30.1 overs. With this win, Bangladesh now have two points and have moved up from fourth to second in the group standings. They will next face UAE and the winner will qualify for the next stage.

No match was scheduled from Group B on Thursday. India are next from this group and the winner of South Africa vs Ireland will join them in the quarter-finals.

Pakistan entered the last-16 with a 39-run win over Afghanistan. Abdul Fasih top-scored with 68 as Pakistan averaged 239/9 in 50 overs after batting first. In their chase, Afghanistan made it very late and finished on 215/9.
