ICC Test Rankings: Ravindra Jadeja Becomes World No.1 All-rounder; Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant climb the batting charts

India’s star player Ravindra Jadeja has climbed to the top of the ICC Test rankings for all-rounders after a stellar performance with both the ball and the ball in the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali. The southpaw played a brilliant 175*-run knock with the bat while he took 9 wickets with the ball for the script record.

“Ravindra Jadeja’s performance in India’s recent Test win against Sri Lanka in Mohali has propelled him to No.1 position in the MRF Tires ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings,” the ICC said in a statement.

The flamboyant India all-rounder overtook West Indies’ Jason Holder to return to the top spot, which he briefly achieved in August 2017.

Jadeja was adjudged the player of the match for his performance against Sri Lanka in Mohali, where India won by an innings and 222 runs within three days.

He became the third Indian player to score over 150 and take five wickets in a single match, while becoming the sixth Indian to achieve the massive feat. The 33-year-old joins an elite list of players that includes Vinoo Mankad, Dennis Atkinson, Polly Umrigar, Gary Sobers and Mushtaq Ahmed.

Jadeja played with a lot of maturity in his record-breaking innings as he laid the foundation for India’s mammoth score by striking a three-century partnership with three players.

In the batting charts, former India captain Virat Kohli and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant moved up in the latest rankings. Kohli, who scored 45 runs against Sri Lanka, has climbed two steps to the fifth position. At the same time, Pant’s stormy innings of 96 runs helped him to make a place in the top-10 of the ICC rankings.

The top-10 bowling charts remained intact as Pat Cummins leads the race with Ravichandran Ashwin just behind him.
